Our Conformance Goal
This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities and are the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility.
What We've Done
We have taken the following steps to make this website accessible:
- Keyboard navigation: every page can be navigated using only a keyboard. A skip link is provided to bypass the navigation and jump directly to the main content.
- Screen reader compatibility: pages use semantic HTML landmarks (main, nav, footer), proper heading hierarchy, and ARIA labels so screen readers can accurately describe the page to users.
- Visible focus indicators: all interactive elements display a clear visible focus ring when navigated by keyboard.
- Colour contrast: text and background colour combinations meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text.
- Form accessibility: all form fields have visible, associated labels. Required fields are identified both visually and to screen readers. Error handling is accessible.
- Accessible images and icons: decorative images and icons are hidden from assistive technologies. Meaningful images include descriptive alternative text.
- Responsive design: the site works across all screen sizes and device types.
- Reduced motion: animations and transitions are disabled for users who have indicated a preference for reduced motion via their operating system settings.
- No time limits: no content on this site expires or moves automatically.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, there are some areas we are actively working to improve:
- Portfolio images: placeholder images in the portfolio section do not yet have full descriptive alt text. This will be resolved when real project screenshots are added.
- Third-party content: embedded content from third-party services (such as Google Fonts) may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. We have no direct control over these resources.
We are committed to resolving known issues and will update this statement as improvements are made.
